Motivated? Absolutely. Lily Johansen is a sophomore triple major in Marketing, BDIC in Fashion Merchandising, and Communication. In addition to her school work, Lily is part of Fashion Club, Marketing Club’s community service committee, and of course Women in Business! Beyond college, Lily is hoping to use all of her experience from UMass to go into the more creative side of marketing/advertising within the fashion industry. She enjoys drawing, painting, and playing guitar, so creative work only makes sense!
One of her main interests outside of academics is community service. In high school, Lily was a committee head for her local church’s volunteer groups. This involved planning and volunteering for week-long trips, soup kitchen work, rebuilding houses, and more. This passion didn’t end with high school: last year she went on Isenberg’s alternative spring break to South Africa! She enjoyed the experience of going on safaris but also getting the experience of helping the community and learning about their culture. Her favorite part was getting to know the kids in the orphanage!
Lily loves being a part of Women in Business because of all of the useful knowledge shared by its speakers and executive board — she shared that especially as a freshman last year, she got a lot of good advice from WiB meetings (i.e. what is business casual). She also loves all of the opportunities WiB provides to its members! Within the marketing committee, Lily is on the Instagram subcommittee. In this role, she gets to be involved in the promotion of the club on social media.
